Drug Uses

Dilantin (Phenytoin) acts to dampen the unwanted, runaway brain activity seen in seizure by reducing electrical conductance among brain cells.

Usage

Use as recommended by your doctor. However, it is recommended that you avoid taking it on an empty stomach. Can be swallowed with a glass of water or thoroughly chewed.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Dilantin, then consume one as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next dose, then skip this one and continue with your regular dosage. Double dosage should be avoided.

Storage

Avoid direct exposure to heat, moisture, and light. Store Dilantin at 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 °C). Keep away from children.
Usage of the drug should be avoided with alcohol as it may aggravate the effects. Seek medical aid immediately if effects worsen. Avoid handling dangerous machinery or driving if effects of the drug are felt.
Dilantin is an anti-epileptic and hence is known to cause drowsiness and dizziness.
